Qingdao'smarineeconomyhasshowngooddevelopmentalmomentumasthecityrecoversfrompastCOVID-19outbreaksandpursueseconomicandsocialdevelopmentinawell-coordinatedmannerthatincludesaseriesofmeasurestosupportocean-relatedindustrydevelopment.
Accordingtoapreliminarycalculation,Qingdao'sgrossoceanproductsgrew10.1percentyear-on-yearto230.41billionyuan($34.08billion)inthefirsthalfofthisyear,accountingfor32.6percentofthecity'sGDP.
Oceansarestrategicallyimportanttohigh-qualitydevelopment,andQingdaoistransformingintoaleadingmodernmarinecity,withmoreeffortsbeingmadetospeeduptheconstructionofworld-classseaports,awell-establishedmodernmaritimeindustrialsystem,andagreenandsustainablemarineecologicalenvironment.
Thecityhassetupaspecialworkingteamtostabilizetheoperationsofthemarineeconomy,coordinatetheschedulingofmarineprojects,andprovideservicestoocean-relatedenterprises,soastoacceleratethehigh-qualitydevelopmentofthemarineeconomy.
Inthefirsthalfofthisyear,keymarineindustriesinQingdaocontinuedtorise.Theaddedvalueofmarineshipbuilding,offshoreengineeringequipmentmanufacturing,andmarinechemicalindustriesreached2.9billionyuan,7.85billionyuanand11.59billionyuan,respectively,up37.1percent,18percentand28.7percentyear-on-year.
Theaddedvalueofmarinemedicineandbiologicalproductshit2.82billionyuan,up11.3percentyear-on-year,whiletheaddedvalueofmarinetransportationreached44.18billionyuan,up23.6percent.
Inthefirsthalfofthisyear,thecontainerandcargothroughputofQingdaoPortreached12.47millionTEUs(twenty-footequivalentunits)and32.79millionmetrictons,respectively,up7percentand2.8percentyear-on-year.
