The12offshoreduty-freeshopsinHainan,China'sislandprovince,recorded3.16billionyuanintotalsalesduringtheSpringFestivalholiday,accordingtotheHainanProvincialDepartmentofCommerce.Thistranslatestonearly400millionyuanperday,markinga7.15%increaseinper-daysalescomparedtothesameperiodlastyear.
Theeight-dayholiday,whichranfromFeb.10-17,broughtasurgeoftouriststoHainan,propellingduty-freesalesto2.56billionyuanandpushingthetotalnumberofduty-freeitemssoldto2.07million.
ThisboomreflectstherapidgrowthofHainan'sduty-freeindustry,fueledbyitsappealtotouristsseekingluxurygoodsattax-freeprices.Newdeliveryoptionslike"guaranteedpick-up"and"buyandpick-up"furtherenhancethecustomerexperience.
ChinaDutyFreeGroupCo.Ltd.(CDFG),amajorplayerintheindustry,sawasurgeinvistorsatitsHaikouInternationalDutyFreeShoppingComplexandSanyaInternationalDutyFreeShoppingComplex.Haikoureceivedover360,000visitorsduringtheholiday,a9.8%increasefromlastyear,whileSanyareceivedmorethan60,000visitorsperday,ayear-on-yearincreaseof40.4%.
"Weofferedincentiveslikegiftsforcheck-in,freeitemswithpurchasesandcashbackdeals,"saidYeRong,themarketingdirectorofSanyaDowntownOffshoreDuty-FreeStore."Manypopularbrandswereinhighdemand.Thecustomsservicewasefficientandensuredthatthehigh-demandproductswereavailable."
