ThefirstphaseofBeijing'snewpandaconservationbase,undertheChinaConservationandResearchCenterforGiantPandas,whichhasdrawnsignificantattention,isscheduledtoopenin2025.Thebaseisexpectedtohouse50giantpandasupontotalcompletioninQinglonghutown,locatedinthecity'ssouthwesterndistrictofFangshan,asannouncedataconstructioninitiationceremonyonFeb.28.
Coveringanareaof133hectares,theBeijingpandabasewillleveragethecity'sadvantagesinscientificresearch,talentandexcellentecologicalenvironmenttopromotetechnologicaldevelopmentinthebreedingandprotectionofgiantpandas.
Officialsinvolvedwiththeprojecthavestatedthatofthetotal50giantpandasplannedforthebase,40willbeintroducedtothepublicwiththelaunchofthebase'sfirstphasenextyear.Theinitialphaseoftheproject,occupyinganareaof63.5hectares,willfeaturegiantpandas,goldenmonkeys,redpandasandotheranimals.Additionally,thebasewillhostagiantpandaculturalexchangecenter.Thesecondandthirdphasesoftheprojectwillcoverapproximately70hectaresofreservedspaceandbeginbasedontheprogressofconstruction.
Thebaseiscommittedtocreatingafavorablelivingenvironmentforgiantpandas,ensuringapleasantvisitingexperiencefortourists,andfosteringaharmoniouscoexistencebetweenpeopleandgiantpandas,accordingtoapersoninchargeoftheproject.
